Due to overwhelming demand we have had to place single Followers places on hold. Followers, you can still book it but it must be with a Leader for the time being.
We're putting together another fantastic line up of top WCS instructors for you, for a weekend of superb WCS workshops, social dancing and pro-shows - it's a learning and social weekend so NO competitions, just fun!
The workshops aim to cover all skill levels from the inexperienced to the more advanced. This makes Westie Bootcamp SOUTH the perfect weekend to improve your dancing.
No matter what level you come in at, you're sure to enjoy this entertaining weekend of social dancing, in-depth workshops and hints and tips from the pros' of West Coast Swing. It's set to be an exciting and fun event with the emphasis on 'enjoyment', designed to build your confidence, improve your dancing and provide a lovely, relaxed place to do it in.
The Venue is magnificent, standing in 40 acres of stunning grounds. It's close to Heathrow (6 miles), so friends from the Continent have easy access and there are plenty of free parking for our attendees.
Example of the schedule from February. A new schedule will be posted in due course.
This will be updated nearer the time.
We share the Hotel with other guests, although we have exclusive use of the function rooms we use.
If you feel unwell or test positive for Covid-19 before the event, then you should not attend and follow medical advice accordingly. Please contact us to inform us if you test positive to enable us to cancel your room.
This is a dance event and there will be a considerable amount of hand-to-hand contact. PLEASE wash your hands frequently and each time before dancing with a new partner PLEASE ensure you use antibacterial hand gel to cleanse your hands. Hand Hygiene Gel will be located throughout the Hotel and our functions rooms; however, it is also advisable that you bring your own when attending classes or social dancing.
Our aim is to provide a wonderful dance weekend in as safe an environment as possible. We have limited the number of attendees and will maximise airflow where possible in our dance rooms.
These especially planned Levels offer a unique opportunity to experience the highest level of instruction with a friendly and supportive group of a similar skill level. You will be expected to stay in the same Level throughout the weekend which will help to progress your social dancing.
We want EVERYONE to enjoy and get the most out of the workshops this weekend. This means being realistic and participating in the Level that is appropriate to your current level of WCS dance experience. Please respect and be fair to your fellow dancers. If you are struggling in a workshop you may not be at the right level for your current experience.
West Coast Swing Classes will run throughout the weekend and a programme, check-in details and any other information you need will be emailed 7-10 days prior to the start of the Bootcamp.
This might be your first introduction to WCS or you may have taken a few WCS classes already but are not confident with the basics and still counting steps. You’ll be introduced to the basics and given all the tools you’ll need for a great start on your WCS journey.
You are already taking WCS lessons and although you have the basics sorted you need to gain confidence and take your dancing up a notch. You’ve probably been dancing for 6 months or less, but have been regularly attending classes.
In this level you’ll learn new moves and hopefully build your confidence to help you along on your journey.
If you start off in this level but find it too challenging or feel the need to work on your basics, please go back to Level One.
You have been dancing and attending WCS classes regularly and no longer need to count. You have a solid knowledge of the basics (sugar push, left side pass, right side underarm turn, tuck turn and whip).
You may have competed in Newcomer or Novice previously and want to take your WCS to the next level, learning new moves, shapes and variations. You need to work on your partnering skills, technique and timing, improving your social dancing.
It's expected that you regularly attend Intermediate level workshops/intensives and weekend events. You social dance frequently and feel ready to introduce more complex patterns to your dancing and are would like to accelerate your learning. Workshops will be fast paced working on connection, footwork, pattern structure and styling.
If you are having trouble keeping up with a class, please be fair to others in this level and drop down to Level 3.
Teachers confirmed so far...
We're thrilled to welcome back Thibault and Nicole.
They first began their journey together in January of 2019, but have been connected for far longer than that. When they first met, he didn't speak English and she didn't speak French, but, they had the universal language of dance that brought them together.
Through the years, they have enjoyed dancing together in the improvisational competitions and socially; quickly becoming each other's dance crush. They are a new partnership with big ambitions, traveling back and forth from USA to France to meet these dreams.
Now, they are the current World Champions of the US Open Swing Dance Championships 2019 in the Showcase division.
They travel everywhere together; teaching, performing, judging, and competing. They have quickly developed a good rhythm teaching classes and intensives together, offering great technique in a relaxed and fun environment.
With their many years of knowledge in West Coast Swing and other partner and solo dances, their teaching style is very appreciated around the world and benefits dancers of all styles. Their emotive, passionate spirits shine when they are on stage and while teaching. They love to motivate their students to excel - and they love being inspired by seeing their students growth and creativity in their classes. Their personalities are very energetic and open to connecting with people, on and off the dance floor.
We're delighted to welcome back Olivier and this time he will be partnering Virginnie.
Olivier has lived in Lyon since 2010 but has retained his Belgian Humour. He is the Event Director of WCS French Open and travels throughout Europe sharing his passion for WCS.
Always a very warm welcome once again to Browly and Inga.
Browly fell in love with WCS in 2010 and began his new adventure, traveling throughout Europe taking workshops and intensive courses with some of the best known and most respected teachers of this dance.
Today, Browly is best known for his clear and logical technique classes, and students love how he approaches musical interpretation in the dance. Passing on technique in a simple, efficient way, but also his strong values of respect for partners and enjoyment of the dance.
Breaking down “complicated concepts” into simple ideas with fun exercises makes it easier for students to communicate in the dance.
Andrew Shellard is from Léon, France and emerged onto the west coast swing scene in 2011. At the tender age of 16 Andrew already had 6 year's dance experience behind him including the French rock n’ roll champion title in 2009.
Andrew got his first International teaching contract in Israel and from there he went on to teach in Italy, Germany, Holland, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, England, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. He now lives in his home town of .
